Adoption
This is a lifetime commitment - the average lifespan of a cat is continually increasing depending on the individual, they can be part of your life for 15 to 18 years or even longer.
Costs - you must consider the costs involved including a suitable diet, insurance and veterinary treatment.
Essential equipment - it's important to make sure that you have all the items that a cat needs before they come home. Our cat carers can advise on everything you need.
All the cats we take into our care are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. It is our policy that no cat is put to sleep unless terminally ill or has a very poor quality of life.
Great care is taken to ensure that our
rescued cats and kittens find a permanent loving home. Physical house checks are carried out to see if the cat you want is best suited to you and your needs. When a cat is
re-homed we think of it as ‘adoption’.
If, for whatever circumstances, you are no longer able to care for the cat, the cat MUST be returned to us.
What is your adoption process?
You need to book an appointment to view the cats and kittens we have available. Once viewed you can then place a reserve, we will then come out to you to do a house check. Once the house check has been completed and is successful a member of staff will
contact you to arrange collection appointment.
How long does the adoption process take?
This can take up to two weeks.
Do you have a catchment area?
Yes, we have a catchment area of 20 miles from the sanctuary as it's volunteers who kindly do our house checks for us. If you are unsure if you fall within our catchment area, please give us a call on 0121 445 1840 option 3.
What are your adoption fees?
Adult cat £100 each
All adults are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date with flea and worm treatment.
Kittens £80 each
All kittens are vaccinated, microchipped, flea and wormed plus a voucher for 10% off neutering at Cramar Vets.
Do you have any policies which may restrict us adopting?
We have the following adoption policies in place here at Cramar.
-
ALL adoptions are subject to a physical house check, and we do not home on
busy roads. -
We only home our younger kittens in pairs unless there is another young cat in the family home.
-
We do not home our kittens to families with children under 4. (We are happy to home our adult cats with children under 4).
What are you viewing hours?
We are open by appointment only. Our appointment times are 12-2pm, 7 days a week.
How do I book an appointment?
Please call us on 0121 445 1840 option 3 and leave your name and daytime telephone number and a brief message and we will call you back to discuss and arrange an appointment.
